Morgan State University Live Near Your Work Program

Do you work for Morgan State University?  There are a number of down payment assistance programs in the City of Baltimore that can help would be home buyers with the down payment they need to buy a home.  If you work at Morgan State University you can get up to $3,500 in grant funds to help with the purchase of your new home.  You can use this in conjunction with other programs too, to minimize the amount you will need for a down payment on your new home. 

Imagine walking or biking to work in less time than it takes to enjoy a cup of coffee.  You can live within about 15 minutes of the campus and qualify for this program.  

• You will need to take home ownership counselling from a HUD certified housing counselling service (ask me for a referral, I'm happy to help).
• Select a home within the Morgan Community Mile area (I can help with this too)
• Contribute a minimum of $1000 of your own money towards the purchase

Only Available Until June 30, 2017

The Maryland Mortgage Program just announced ANOTHER amazing program offered this time to home buyers in Baltimore City!  Read on for details....

• Fully forgivable GRANT monies of $7,500 that can be used for down payment and/or closing costs
• Income limits based on total household income.  1 to 2 person household income limit is $107,400 and 3 or more person household income limit is $125,300
• Program runs through May 1st to June 30, 2017 or until the money is gone
• Available for conventional or government loans, minimum credit score for conventional loans is 640, VA is 640 and FHA is 660
• This program can be combined with other City programs offered through the City of Baltimore, employers, builders, developers, non-profits, etc. 
• All properties located in Baltimore City except for Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development  REO properties
• Can be combined with the Maryland Tax Homecredit Program and CDA will waive the $450 CDA MCC fee
• Buyer does NOT have to be a first time home buyer, buyer must only occupy property as their primary residence and not own any other real estate at the time of closing
• Home buying counseling does NOT have to be taken prior to writing the contract of sale

Grand Slam Grant Program is a great opportunity to get some grant funds to buy a home in Baltimore City.  You'll need to take a Home Buyer Education class and have a one on one interview to qualify.  Be sure to connect with a Realtor that is familiar with Baltimore City grant programs and an approved lender.
